We are excited to announce the Save the Date for the 7th Annual Texas Plastic Pollution Symposium.
The symposium will be held in-person at the Houston Zoo in Houston, Texas on April 3, 2025. This year we will have a one-day research symposium, including a poster session, and a social the evening of April 2nd. We will have student stipends again this year for students traveling further than 50 miles away and presenting their research.
Thanks to a grant received by the Nurdle Patrol project from the Matagorda Bay Mitigation Trust, the event will be free again this year. It will be a great opportunity to collaborate with other researchers studying plastics and a way for us all to connect about the future of plastic research in Texas and beyond.
The planning committee for this event includes representatives from the following:
- Galveston Bay Estuary Program
- Houston Zoo
- Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies
- Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program
- University of Texas Marine Science Institute
- Mission-Aransas NERR
- Surfrider Foundation-Coastal Bend Chapter
- Black Cat GIS
- Texas Master Naturalists
