Jack Willans underwent his B.S in Marine Biology at Hawaii Pacific University, where he found a passion for all things marine. After working on reef management projects in places such as the Seychelles and the Maldives, he decided to further his education at Bangor University, where his master's thesis was on the occurrence of coralline algae disease in British waters.

From 2017 to 2024 Jack worked as an aquarist at Sealife aquarium in London, where he cared for numerous species including sharks, penguins, crocodiles and a 16m-long live coral tank, filled with species from around the world.

As a research aquarist, Jack will support the researchers at HRI regarding coral husbandry and system maintenance.

In his spare time Jack enjoys travelling/exploring new places, as well as SCUBA diving and skiing.
