Marissa Lamb, M.S.

Marissa Lamb is a doctoral student working with the HRI Endowed Chair for Conservation and Biodiversity, Dr. Dale Gawlik. Marissa was born in North Carolina to a military family that moved around throughout her childhood, eventually ending up in Texas. She earned a B.S. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior at the University of Texas, focused on pre-veterinary courses and marine biology. After receiving her B.S., she worked in the veterinary field, rehabilitating native wildlife in Central Texas. She then earned a M.S. in Ocean, Coastal, Earth Sciences at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, investigating offshore fish abundance and diversity on natural and artificial reef systems along the South Texas coast. For her dissertation research, she is measuring productivity of nesting colonial waterbird species in Texas.

In her spare time, Marissa enjoys running with her dog, triathlons, and any activity in or on the water: diving, fishing, paddle boarding, and swimming.
