Narita Ramirez

Narita L. Ramirez is a graduate research assistant pursuing her M.S. in Environmental Science working under Harte Research Institute's Endowed Chair for Marine Policy and Law, Kristina Alexander, J.D. She is from Pearsall, Texas, and earned a B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Marine and Coastal Resources from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in Fall 2022. Narita became a NOAA CCME-II Scholar in the Fall of 2024, with her research focusing on how monitoring terms for living shoreline projects along the Texas Gulf Coast can mitigate effects of rising sea levels and how it is crucial for long-term coastal management. This shift aims to ensure that these nature-based solutions are not only effective in present times but also resilient and adaptive to future climate challenges. She wants to understand how the design and implementation features of living shoreline projects around the Texas Gulf Coast affect the ability to maintain shoreline stability over time in the face of sea-level rise. Upon completion of her M.S., her future goal is to work for the NOAA Sea Grant in coastal resilience.

In her spare time, she enjoys going on hikes, spending time with her dog Bella, or longboard.
