Riza Magbitang, M.S.

Riza is a lab manager for the Coastal Ecosystem Processes research group which studies ecosystem processes affecting estuarine and coastal waters, and how those processes are impacting water quality and ecosystem health.

She obtained her bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 2008 from the University of the Philippines, after which she did research in different fields of chemistry (natural products, synthetic chemistry, carbon sequestration, and environmental analytical chemistry).

In 2015, Riza was first exposed to marine science research when she joined the Marine Biogeochemistry Laboratory at the Research Center for Environmental Changes, Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan. She became fascinated with it and eventually pursued a master's degree in Marine Science at the University of Southern Mississippi in NASA's Stennis Space Center, MS.
